Gas Powered Liquid Return (Compressor Protection) Systems
Type A
This system transfers entrapped liquid from a dump trap or suction accumulator directly to the main high pressure receiver utilizing a combination of compressor discharge gas and gravity. It is only applicable when the transfer vessel is positioned with enough vertical distance above the high pressure receiver to facilitate gravity drainage.

    The simplest of Phillips' compressor protection systems, it requires a contolled prssure receiver (or other intermediate pressure vessel such as an intercooler or desuperheater). Compressor discharge gas is utilized to transfer entrapped liquid from a dump trap to a controlled pressure receiver.

    This system transfers entrapped liquid from a dump trap to a high pressure receiver through the use of an interrupting valve in the compressor discharge line. The interrupting valve is normally open, but closes during the transfer cycle to further pressurize the compressor discharge gas and move the liquid.
